Power Technician 1

Position Title: Power Technician 1
Job Code: PT1
Primary Responsibilities of Position:

This is an experienced position with strong to excellent product knowledge on multiple power products. Responsibilities include knowledge of and experience with new builds and re-arrangements of power cabling and equipment at the customer site. Incumbent inventories the hardware and physically builds the product following the hardware job specifications and drawings under minimal to no guidance from a Site Supervisor and/or designated lead position. Has ability to lead and direct assignments to meet delivery commitment to customer. Performs power verification and commissioning of out of service and in-service equipment:

  1. Understand and use established safety practices
  2. Quality awareness and ability to implement quality control processes
  3. Performs inventory of all job-related material
  4. Reads and stays current on installation documentation
  5. Reads and interprets Engineering specs, prints, and drawings
  6. Demonstrates proper use of tools
  7. Performs all physical and mechanical installation activities
  8. Maintain on-site job records and administration tracking
  9. Performs power and grounding installations on small and large power plants
  10. Performs power verification and power-up of equipment
  11. Performs hardware testing in an out of service and in-service environment
  12. Requirements may include Site Team Leader assignment
  13. Ability to use a Personal Computer and various software applications (email, Excel, etc…)
  14. Travel away from home for several weeks may be required on demand
  15. Shift work required upon demand
  16. Physical lifting of a minimum of 25 pounds required
  17. Conducts work assignments, communicate, dress and assist customer in a professional manner

Minimum Skills/Training:

Requires an in depth technical knowledge of current customer products with minimal training performed and recorded on Safety, Quality assurance and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation. Has a sound knowledge of the phases of product installation. Can lead and in-charge a project.
